About messenger

I grew up with two older brothers and one Nintendo. With my screen time defaulting to the lowest tier on the totem pole, I had to find other ways to keep myself occupied. I started drawing the characters from my favorite games, turning my sketchbooks into my own custom-designed levels. Mario, Ninja Turtles, Mega Man- if it wasn’t my turn to play, I was building my own personal hellscape for these heroes.

I would always run to the spinning display of comic books when we were at the grocery store- why wait in the checkout line when I could speed-read through all of my favorite comics? I soon had to come up with my own- stories of the Incinerator (stolen from the brandname of our garbage disposal, a sight I got to see nightly while doing the dishes- the inSINKerator), Traos and Taros (I thought switching the letters around on a made up name was pure genius), and any other plot line that I could muster up. My favorite, however, was a long-running line of comics called “Stick X-Men”- a 3-panel series whose punchline defaulted to the characters puking violently.

The refined font and design suggested you might be reading something far more sophisticated by this point,… I think we’ve all figured out what’s going on here.

Anyways, I graduated high school pissed off and mad at the world. Who needs college? NOT ME! I’m going to be an artist and NOT be $100k in debt! I’ll just work part time and draw the rest of the time! Great plan, except by the time I realized I had NO CLUE what I was doing or how to get better at it, I was broke and destined to jump back into the corporate world.

Years passed, I quit drawing nearly as much as I used to, and now that I’m in my 30’s I’ve decided that I can’t let this part of me slip off into the ether. I draw all of the time, and it only gets me in trouble at work. Might as well find another avenue for it, amiright?

I would love, someday, to “retire” early and pursue this for a living. It doesn’t happen overnight, but if I don’t start today, when will I?

I hope you enjoy the artwork on this page- feel free to hit me up with any questions you have. PEACE!
